Arrest warrant for Chaim Todman
Todman was again not in court when the matter was called on December 7, 2011.
Chaim Todman, David Hodge, Elvis Thomas and Preta Karran, landed in trouble after Police intercepted a boat containing a large amount of cash in the area of Road Reef on Friday June 3, 2011. Over $225,000, found in a box, was seized in the operation. The charge against Karran has since been dropped.
Meanwhile, Todman’s previous absence from court was reportedly due to him sustaining an injury in a boat accident on August 7, 2011. All three of the accused are out on bail.
The matter yesterday was adjourned to February 14, 2012.
The Crown was previously successful in its bid to confiscate the money, which was suspected to be part of a drug purchase. Senior Magistrate Valerie Stephens had decided that the $225,480 that was found on Friday June 3, 2011 during a sting operation should be seized since the Crown was persuasive in arguing that the money may have been the proceeds of a criminal conduct or used in a criminal conduct.
Police had also found traces of cocaine in a suitcase. The boat was reportedly at the time arriving from St. Thomas, USVI when it was seized by Police around 10:20 p.m.
