Appeal filed! Sentencing stayed! In Oliver J. Lewis child sex case
Continuation of the matter is dependent on the outcome of the appeal which will be made in the High Court.
The court heard today December 9, 2015 that the Magistrate has discretion to grant bail to a defendant who has appealed and has exercised that discretion and refused bail. In the circumstances, she has directed the defendant to seek bail in the High Court.
The defence had appealed the previous four complaints. However, Magistrate DaBreo was of the view it that it would be a waste of judicial time not to rule on the last two rather than await on the Court of Appeal's decision. She then said she had found the defendant guilty on the other two offences.
The matter has been adjourned pending the outcome of the appeal and a likely application for bail in the High Court.
Bible sessions
The court heard on December 3, 2015 that the Virtual Complainant, aged 13 back in 2013, said he was engaged in Bible sessions with the male defendant.
The Magistrate maintained that whether or not the boy agreed to the alleged sexual activity, he could not give consent as he is a minor. The Magistrate said that the relationship between the VC and the defendant was described as a brotherly church relationship. It was revealed that on various occasions the defendant would allegedly pick the Virtual Complainant up from school and take him to his house where they would engage in homosexuality and paedophilia.
Texts & emails reveal much
There were many emails and text messages exchanged allegedly between the Virtual Complainant and the defendant. In some of them the defendant allegedly promised to buy the Virtual Complainant a cell phone. The Virtual Complainant allegedly preferred one kind over another and the defendant pleaded with him saying that he could not afford what the Virtual Complainant wanted.
In some of the texts, the defendant threatened to kill himself because of what allegedly took place between the two.
The Magistrate then went on to read out some of the allegations of sexual encounters between the defendant and the Virtual Complainant.
Lewis remains on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison at Balsam Ghut.

They degrade their victims and strip them of their dignity. Some perverts though were victims of other perverts whilst others fed their minds on the filth of the world by absorbing unclean materials.
The BVI is responsible for this muck. Big wide world and building a nation with defective goods is idiotic and self destructive.
