Alston Quashie allegedly led police to ganja farm- Court hears
Alston Quashie, 56, was arrested on June 9, 2017 after police executed a search warrant at his home, where they allegedly unearthed 78.3 grams of marijuana and 220 seedling plants.
Senior Magistrate Ms Tamia N. Richards heard on June 12, 2017 that resulting from concerns brought to their attention about the accused’s activities, officers of the RVIPF conducted a search of his home where they allegedly found in his refrigerator and on his bed a large quantity of the substance, which he allegedly told police, in no uncertain terms, was marijuana.
He then reportedly took the officers on a good leg walk for about a mile and a half up a mountainous area to his farm where they found 220 seedlings.
Quashie was then taken to the Road Town Police Station where he was further charged for the offences of cultivation and possession, to which he pleaded guilty in court.
However, to the charge of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply another, the accused said "not guilty" and was remanded to prison.
Quashie has to be back in court on July 14, 2017.
