Alcedo Tyson charged for allegedly murdering Dominican woman
According to a press release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), at 10am today March 17, 2012, detectives from the RVIPF's Major Crime Team charged Tyson of Joe’s Hill for the crime.
"The family has been informed and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support them," the release stated.
Tyson, who is allegedly the ex-lover of the deceased, will appear before the court on Monday March 19, 2012.
The investigation into the murder continues and according to the RVIPF, detectives request any person who was in the car park area close to Deuces Night Club at the time to come forward since it is understood that there were a number of persons around when Miss Todd-Rhymer was killed.
Detective Inspector Niven of the Major Crime Team said “The response from the public has been good and for that we are very grateful. However, there were a lot of people who were at the scene that night who have yet to come forward”
The police added that they would also like to speak to patrons of Deuces Night Club who were at the club that night and any other person who has information to assist the investigation. Residents woke up Friday morning to the tragic news that Kwanna Rhymer died in the parking lot. According to unconfirmed reports and eye witnesses, she was still breathing but reportedly died before the ambulance and police arrived at the scene.
According to our reporter, who was at the scene, the deceased woman was "apparently bleeding from her stomach area" from what appeared to be bullet wounds.
The body was removed to Peebles Hospital and the coroner has been informed.
Rhymer was an employee of Delta Petroleum.
