ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Following the Department of Labour and Workforce Development's previous advisory that, due to technical difficulties, the application process for work permits was suspended, the department is now reporting that the service has been restored.

In an advisory on January 6, 2026, the department explained that ongoing technical difficulties were disrupting the timely delivery of important emails related to the work permit application process.

Technical issues resolved

In its latest advisory, January 21, 2026, the department confirmed that the technical issues have been resolved.

"The delivery of emails and related notifications has been fully restored, and applicants should now receive confirmations, updates, and other correspondence as normal."

The Department of Labour and Workforce Development says it thanks the public for their patience and understanding during this period and apologises for any inconvenience caused.

    If they could speed up the processing, that would be great, because sometimes it feels like they think they’re hurting the work‑permit holder, when in reality their slow pace is hurting local BVI‑owned businesses.
