MALABAR, Arima, Trinidad and Tobago- Wolues found the going tough in their opening game of the 2025 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Shield at Larry Gomes Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

The boys from the Virgin Islands (VI) were unable to trouble the scoresheets while conceding three goals in the Group C clash with 19-time Suriname league champions, SV Transvaal.

The Suriname champs dominated the match with consistent passing across the pitch. In contrast, the Wolues players struggled to make an impact in the first half of the game.

In the 26th minute of play, Transvaal defender Giorgio Bhoi stepped up to the task of a free kick, curling it into the back of the net past goalkeeper James Baird.

The game's second goal came in the 69th minute when Johan Lisse’s cross assisted Alvaro Keizerweerd.

Wolues had 1 goal scoring attempt

As Wolues kept their heads above water despite a two-nil deficit, Noel Maxwell attempted the only goal-scoring opportunity, but he was unsuccessful.

With eight minutes added time in the second half, Transvaal expanded their goal tally when Jamairo Hecbert secured the final goal of the match.

Wolues will seek to rebound in their upcoming match against Weymouth Wales of Barbados at Atpo Boldon Stadium on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, while SV Transvaal next face All Saints United from Antigua and Barbuda also on Tuesday.
