'We are becoming complacent' with COVID-19 - Premier Fahie
"I am concerned that people are not social distancing, standing six feet apart from each other, we are becoming complacent, we are not wearing our masks, which should only cover our nose to our chin. Each day we ignore these important steps as COVID-19 continues, we are putting our lives at risk," he said.
The Premier was at the time speaking at today's, June 11, 2020, Ninth Sitting of the Second session of the Fourth House Of Assembly at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff's Bottom, Tortola, where he noted that those who were locked out of the Territory have already started returning home.
"We have our people returning home and they are co-operating and going into mandatory quarantine with security being provided on a 24-hour basis. We are happy that this Territory can offer protection to its people following successful completion of the quarantine period," he said.
Only on June 10, 2020, our newsroom reported an article in which Chief Environmental Health Officer (CEHO) Mr Lionel E. Michael said social distancing, hand hygiene and other protocols put in place to prevent the spread of the Novel Coronavirus in the Virgin Islands went out of the window when bars and nightclubs opened last weekend.
VI still has Zero active COVID-19 cases - Premier
According to Hon Fahie; however, even as authorities continue to take steps to safeguard the populace, it is important that guards are not let down regarding the virus as it is still prevalent around the world.
"We have managed to keep the infection and fatality rates down to very low numbers when compared to most other countries, so let us continue to work in the oneness of purpose."
Premier Fahie said as of June 10, 2020, 681 registrations have been submitted to the Immigration Department for nationals, belongers, holders of permanent residence and naturalised citizens to return to the VI.
He said 362 of those applications have been verified by Immigration and cleared for processing by the Environmental Health Department noting that it is an ongoing process which must include mandatory quarantine and compliance for those looking to return home.

The fine the family in VG that allowed a non listed person in and out of a house that has a quarantined person in it, where is the $5000 fine why is the EHO officer warned but no arrest and quarantine of a full household that signed up for these rules and have broken them?
Do you see where I'm going with this? PR and Dominican Republic has the highest cases in the Caribbean.
There are no "TESTED" Active Cases. How many people could be walking around spreading the virus because they figure they just have a cold, the flu, allergies acting up, or afraid to get the test.
Now do you see why we are still wearing a mask?
Ill just rest this here.
