ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A survey has been created for voters to provide feedback on the execution of the 2023 General Elections.

According to a press release from Government Information Services (GIS) on May 4, 2023, the thirteen-question survey is completely anonymous and covers topics including, but are not limited to, the accessibility and efficiency of polling stations, the effectiveness of ballots and electronic machines, and the overall voting experience.

Supervisor of Elections, Ms Scherrie N. Griffin said, “The purpose of this survey is to gather information about each individual’s unique experience voting in the 2023 General Elections. We hope that this information can be used to guide the way in which elections can and should be conducted after highlighting what worked well and what areas may need improvement.”

Deadline

May 15, 2023 is the deadline for completion of the survey which can be accessed directly at surveymonkey.com/r/RC8HK5K or at bvi.gov.vg/elections under the ‘2023 Post-Election Survey’ tab. International election observers found that the [British] Virgin Islands 2023 General Election broadly met international standards.

The Election Observation Mission, run by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association British Islands and Mediterranean Region (CPA BIMR), was in the territory from April 16, 2023, and spoke to a wide variety of stakeholders as part of the pre-election observation.

According to a Government Information Services (GIS) press release on April 26, 2023, the Head of Mission, Hon Fatoumatta Njai from The Gambia, said: “The British Virgin Islands has delivered a well-administered election, which was carried out in a calm and professional manner. Polling staff were well-trained, diligent and helpful, and efforts to promote voting by elderly voters and persons with disabilities were commendable.”

It need electoral reform person living out of the district that they are register in for more than 5 year needs to be transfer to the current resident district its unfair thag every 4 years they go to a district they dont live in to go vote my opinion is that where u live is where your problems are so vote in your district you live in and for those who live overseas need to be in the country 6 months before the election not 2 days and leave the next week or same day after making and assult on the person who have live tru all the lower and highs and never ran to greener pastures

Once an individual has interest in the district they are registered in he/she has legitimate rights to stay there. Persons who pay their taxes or heritage rights in the BVI have all right to vote in the district they hail from; the sone is done in various jurisdictions. What is wrong is initially registering persons in a district when in essence they live a different district.

with all the hype, is the voter registration card machine working yet? If not, why not? It has been broken since a bit after 2019. But then, what does BVI maintain anyway.
