VI's Jr Minister for Tourism pays tribute to the late Sasso

Sasso, 42, was critically injured on September 8, 2025, in a two-vehicle collision along the Rhymer Highway near the KLR entrance on St Thomas, US Virgin Islands. He was subsequently removed from life support days later.
Hon Smith said Sasso was born in the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) with Virgin Islands roots and became a musical giant in his own right, working as a singer, songwriter, and recording artist.
Musical contributions & legacy forever remembered
According to Hon Smith, Sasso contributed to the Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival performing with bands like Jam Band, Poizon Band, and Karnage Band, as well as under his own name.
He was a versatile artist, known for his work in soca, calypso, bouyon, and fusion.
“His musical contributions and legacy will forever be remembered, as his music was well-received, appreciated, and enjoyed throughout the Virgin Islands,” Hon Smith added.
The Greater Virgin Islands, she stated, lost a musical giant, and his death sadly impacts the entertainment world of both territories.
“On behalf of the Government and people of the Virgin Islands, I extend sincere condolences to the family, friends and fans of the late Jeavon Sasso,” Hon Smith said.
