BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – Opposition Member, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) says under his ‘One BVI’ agenda, the Virgin Islands should aspire to fight for what it wants as a country, rather than fighting against the aspirations of others.

Hon Malone appeared as a guest on the August 23, 2022, edition of the Honestly Speaking radio show on ZBVI 780 AM.

“We must look at what is happening throughout the world and especially here in the Virgin Islands. We must know that we must create those things on a social economic front, on a religious front, on an economic front, on a political front, those things that we want for the Virgin Islands,” he said.

Hon added that once the VI does that, it will set the parameters to fight for what it wants, rather than fight against what others want for themselves and to impose on the Virgin Islands.

Narratives misleading VI - Hon Malone

“If we set the fight for what we ourselves want, then we will know when we will actually attain this,” he added.

Hon Malone said that the VI has allowed 'narratives' to say that Virgin Islanders cannot trust Virgin Islanders and need outsiders to manage the territory.

“The same territory that got us all off the infrastructural development… not because billions of dollars were sent from anywhere, but through our own deliberate judgment we were able to build… it’s the same people others are telling you don’t trust and we have bought into that,” he added.

He added that the VI has already gained all that is needed to be self-sustaining and run the country and as such, must be able to fight for what it wants.

Carvin Malone, You and your kind want the BVI to self-sustaining so you all can have a field with the people's money and no one to answer to. We will be worse off than we are now, most of you who is call for it know the BVI will be worse off but you don't care about that because you will be able to do what you want and get away with.

This is what happens when your want of comfort is more important than your want for freedom. There will always be slaves who are comfortable with their enslavement.

We the people listened to the campaign speeches and voted for our elected representatives to fight for We the people. Instead, you fed yourselves first, got in trouble for crimes and corruption and squandered millions. Now we the people must fight for ourselves to survive. You should have honored your promises. You are decades late and millions of dollars short.

Good Governance. Good representation. Infrastructure development. Minimum wage increase to $11.00 per HR. The 3 biggest companies making 100 of millions in profit annually they can afford it, their investors are outsiders all that money leaving the territory.. Let them take care their hard working staff better. Finally we need immigration NHI and Labour clean up...You Carvin joined with Fahie all now you still with to turn down the $300mil loan from England, money that would have the country booming and looking good. We need a new set ..Sad. I've been looking for two years now and I can't find 4 good people...We in trouble, best we leave Sowande until we find someone better...

Hon. Carvin Malone, on order to fight for what we want (need), we should fight against the aspiration of all who are fighting against our best interest, greedy politicians included. Do you agree or not, Hon. Minister?Transparent accountibility of our finances is a vital necessity to our Spiritual, physical, social, and economic development of the BVI wholisticly, in my honest opinion.
