It's Chalwell again!

The Virgin Islands, hunting their first win in 10 meetings against Dominica, open the scoring in the 28^th minute through Luka E. Challwell, who did well to chest control a long aerial ball from way behind the halfway line and then shoot it past the goalkeeper and skipper, Glenson Prince.

Chances for VI!

The VI boys should have been 2-nil up in the 37^th minute when Chalwell was fed the ball through the middle by Tyler Forbes but after getting past the goalkeeper he could not wrap his foot around the ball to put it in an empty net.

Dominica also had a chance in the 43rd minute to level the game when Julian Wade missed from close range with an attempted header.

On the resumption, the Virgin Islands continued to look dangerous and had another easy chance to score in the 47^th minute when Forbes made a solo run for goal but his attempt to cheekily chip the ball over the advancing keeper didn’t go as planned as the goalkeeper got a hand up just in time.

83^rd minute equaliser

Dominica came on strong in the last 20 minutes of the game and were rewarded in the 83^rd minute when Briel Thomas headed the ball in from a freekick. Goalkeeper Daniel Gilford advanced but missed his punch on the ball.

The game took an unfortunate turn in added time when Carlos Septus made a poor challenge on substitute Felix Anselm, clearly fracturing Anselm’s leg in the process.

Septus was met with some hostility as the Dominica players were highly upset about the challenge. Some of their players even broke into tears on seeing the severity of the injury.

Septus was initially shown a yellow card but was subsequently sent off for the dangerous challenge.

The VI have not beaten Dominica in 10 games and the last time they managed a draw was in 2015.

VI and Dominica both have 3 points in Group C3 but Dominica has a better goal difference.

Turks and Caicos Islands sit at the bottom of the group.
