VG Festival Chair hails Committee’s 'success'
The Committee Chair expressed that his panel had achieved at least ninety per cent of the goals that it set for itself but felt that there were still a few areas that needed work.
According to Vanterpool, the Committee met with some amount of difficulty in having certain things readily available when the need arose. He listed examples of these as being generators and trucks.
“Basically it affected us greatly,” he said. The major issue he identified was having the items moved from the mainland of Tortola to Virgin Gorda due to the inaccessibility of boats to transport the required items.
“You can’t call last minute because there are no boats to bring it over from Tortola,” he noted, “that’s one of our shortcomings.”
Though there were approximately ten participants in this year’s Easter Festival Parade, the Committee Chair felt that the participation was ‘really great’ and thanked troupes such as Hugga Bunch, St Thomas Majorettes, Sebastian Majorettes and The Mungo Niles Cultural Dancers that made it all the way from St Thomas to participate in this year’s parade.
“The Committee did a good job… there’s always room for improvement and I appreciate each and every one of the committee members for coming out this year and doing their part,” Vanterpool added.
Vanterpool also thanked sponsors for their various contributions as well as members of the VI Festival & Fairs Committee who came over to assist in making the VG Festival a success.

very poor planning in not getting a nice transportation to drive her in .
his boy f....... got to perform on stage with show time HD...thats the only success he could be talking bout.
Hon., MB, and the deputy culture we the public needs to read the financial statements. If it had so much glitches we should have plenty money leftover out of 100, 000.
I blame ,Mr. N. W.....y. He said he would sponsor the jouvert, provide truck etc. and he did not come through. This put the committee in a spot very late. If he know he would not come through, he should have said so from early. He is from VG and should have want to see festival go right. Nevertheless, the committee would learn now to have a backup plan when they dealing with people like Mr. W........y. Rup... has to also learn to delegate. This was new to him but I guess he now understand you cannot do everything yourself. It was one of the worst festival in VG I have ever been to.
