ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- After beating St Kitts in a thriller on Wednesday night, May 14, 2025, VG Bayside Blazers went a step further in the 2025 King of the Courts (KOTC) Caribbean Championships with a victory over defending champions USVI at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex on May 15, 2025.

Tola also made in 2 wins from 2 games, after seeing off the challenge of Statia.

VG Bayside Blazers, who are sponsored by Biras Creek Resort and Marina and managed by former Speaker Julian Willock, overcame the star-studded USVI, 82-73.

Ronald E. Delph put in a stellar performance, dropping in a game-high 25 points, and grabbing 13 rebounds.

Randy M. George, 14 points, and Austin A. Oltime, 12 points, were the other top scorers for VG Bayside Blazers, who play Haiti from 7:00 PM today.

Defending champions USVI saw their scoring coming mainly from Ajani Blyden and Zion Jones, who had 17 points each, and Neem Olivacce, 15 points.

Star player and 2024 MVP, Khalid S. Gerard, was restricted to just 8 points.

Tola vs Statia

Meanwhile, Tola overcame Statia, 65-57, in a low-scoring affair.

Franklyn L. Penn Jr led Tola with 16 points.

Wesley Alcegaire had 12 points and Antwain Johnson, 11, also for Tola, who play Santo at 10:45 PM.

Samuel Payne, with 16 points, was the chief scorer for Statia, who are now winless in two games.

In other games, Santo handed Trinidad their second defeat, 70-53, and St Kitts defeated Haiti 90-76.

    Them saying VG Bayside players but them flew in people from the states. Same with team TOLA who also flew in people from the states.

    It’s ashame to see what sports in the BVI has come to, coaches and managers now have to resort to “flying in” international talent to even give out local teams a chance to compete and thats a shame. The young men nowadays do not have what it takes to carry on the legacy of those who paved the way for them.

    Yes it’s a shame to see in all of our local sports competitions we are importing players to help us defend our country. Last week I was at the softball’s game with power outage playing pirates and both pitchers were imported. That’s why I had always loved and respected the original East Rockers, they were all locals from east..
