PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- Police and ambulance were called to the scene of a vehicular collision at Paraquita Bay on Tortola on Sunday afternoon, January 28, 2024.

It is unclear what were the circumstances surrounding the accident; however, it appears a vehicle heading west was hit from the side by another heading in the opposite direction.

The mishap took place on a bend just past H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) heading east.

It is unclear whether anyone was seriously injured.

    Are we seeing the increase in accidents in the territory? Something is not right. People PRAY! PRAY!!! PRAY before you start your engine EVERYTIME and ask God for protection over your life and those of your passengers. Satan is not playing with us because he knows that his time is short. STAY PRAYED UP ALWAYS. And you don't need to be on your knees to pray.

    If people drove slower and used caution, staying in their lane, not tailgating or giving the right of way, most of these accidents would not happen. I have noticed when I am driving if there is an obstruction on the opposite side of the road, instead of the driver stopping, they swerve into my lane right in front of me. I have had many close calls because they are negligent and forgot how driving rules go.

      Left-hand roads are DESIGNED for right-hand drive cars. Right-hand drive cars do NOT drive in the middle of the road because they don't need to. They can see clearly , unlike left-hand drive cars. Their lights do not blind oncoming drivers, unlike left-hand drive cars. Look at the rest of the world. If you drive on the left, you use a right-hand drive car. If you drive on the right, you use a left-hand drive car. This is the way it is in the rest of the world. In all honestly though, it does not matter if we drive left or right hand drives if everyone continues to drive like selfish b******s. Learn the laws of the road and stop spouting this nonsense.

    I noticed after Hurricane Irma drivers were careful, thoughtful and considerate, now we are back to bad, rude, dangerous driving.

    AT BOTH OF YOU , ITS NOT THE VEHICLE , ITS THE PERSON BEHIND THE WHEEL / WE SHOULD KNOW THAT BY NOW RHAT CTGERE IS A LOT OF IGNORANT DRIVERS ON THE ROAD , SOME BUY THEIR LICENSE , SOME LOVE TO MAKE LOVE ON THEIR CELL PHONES / EVEN THEM SCOOTER RIDERS DOES IT TOO , ONE HAND ON THE HANDLE AND THE OTHER ON THEIR PHONE / AND WHEN YOU ADD THOSE TO THE MIX ( ITS A RESIEPE FOR ACCIDENTS ) SO DON'T BLAME THE CAR OR THE ROAD / WE ALL KNOW WE GOT POT HOLES LIKE PEAS , YET THEY ARE

    There are TOO MANY drivers texting in motor vehicles (including scooters) while on the road. Drifting across lanes and correcting themselves at the 99th moment. Texting with their heads down and not paying attention to what is going on.
    Unless this high degree of ignorance is addressed this is just the smoke.
