KINGSHILL, St. Croix, USVI- A 21-year-old man was fatally shot near the Superior Court on St. Croix Monday afternoon, marking the island’s 18th homicide of 2026 and the 31st across the U.S. Virgin Islands this year. St. Thomas has recorded 13 homicides.

The V.I. Police Department identified the victim as Angel Rodriguez III after notification of his next of kin.

According to VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte, the St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center received several reports of shots fired at the Superior Court at approximately 2:06 p.m. Monday.

Callers reported that a male victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

When officers arrived, they found Rodriguez unresponsive inside a vehicle at the parking lot entrance. Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and confirmed that he had died from his injuries.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is actively investigating the shooting as a homicide.

VIPD is asking anyone with information about the killing to contact 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-778-2211, or Crime Stoppers V.I. at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

    Wonder what he did for them to gun him down so close to the court house. Then they find a 57 year old man bullet riddled body under a car up hospital ground in St. Thomas. This world gone crazy with crime.

      Up hospital ground and round the field in St. Thomas is bad. They say they shot he up and push he up under the park car or he try to run under the car to shield himself from the bullets. They found his body the next day.

      He was in court for a charge where he was found with a firearm on his person. it was public record. Look it up. no one was with him so there was no one to rat on. Circus clown

    It sad in the article with the two brothers that was killed. He was a suspect. I don't understand if he was on the run and they was looking for him. Why did he go to the courthouse. This is stupid on all levels. Vino bring the whole story
