Public Relations Office of the BVI Athletics Association, Angelle A. Cameron said, moments ago, that the event had to be called off due to "flight delays".

Cameron said Hodge will be attending the August Monday Festival Parade, where she will be a "participant in more than one way".

"Get your autographs and photographs on the parade route," Cameron said.

Adaejah T. Hodge returns to VI today; Meet & Greet planned 

- called 2026 Commonwealth Games a learning process ahead of Olympics & World Championships

A Meet & Greet with the 2026 Commonwealth Games 200M gold medallist, Adaejah T. Hodge, is being organised for today, Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Hodge will return home after winning the Virgin Islands’ first Women’s 200M Commonwealth Games gold medal on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Glasgow. 

The Meet & Greet will take place at Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport at 4:30 PM. 

After clocking a time of 22.07 seconds, Hodge, in an interview, said she went into the games with the same routine that has worked so far for the year. “I wanted to keep everything the same, keep everything fluent.”

Despite the cold weather, she added that she did not let that affect her performance and walked away with gold. 

A learning process 

Hodge also said the race wasn’t the best she ran for the season. “When it comes to finals, I know I had to compete, and that’s all I did, is compete…it’s all a learning process for the Olympics, for World Championships; so I was glad I was able to get my feet wet a little bit, before going to the major championships next year.”

She went on to say her accomplishment was made possible with God. “It’s all just a testament to my faith, to be honest.”

Hodge added that this gold medal is special as it is her first senior championship. 

'More than a medal'- Steve Augustine

The President of the BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA), Mr Steve Augustine, said this Commonwealth Games has shown us what is possible when talent, preparation, and national pride come together. "This is more than a medal. This is yet another statement of who we are as a people."

Augustine added that Hodge's brilliance on the track, her composure under pressure, and her unwavering commitment to excellence have lifted the VI, yet again, onto the world stage.

"We also proudly recognise the semifinalist and finalist appearances of her teammates, whose performances helped make this Commonwealth Games the best overall showing ever delivered by Team BVI. Each athlete demonstrated courage, discipline, and the competitive spirit that defines our territory. Their achievements underscore the true depth of talent rising within these Virgin Islands," Augustine added.

The BVIAA president expressed gratitude to the Government of the Virgin Islands, particularly the Ministry for Education, Youth Affairs, and Sports, for its continued investment in sports and youth development.
