ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – One of the males who had been detained following the continuing investigation into the murder of Paul Prentice has been charged, said the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a press release moments ago today December 19, 2014.

2 men arrested for Paul Prentice’s murder - RVIPF
-weapon and ammunition recovered and another male arrested in connection; female arrested for possession of controlled substance
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Police have arrested two men for the murder of Paul Prentice on Sunday evening December 14, 2014 on Waterfront Drive, Road Town, said a press release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today December 18, 2014.
The young man was gunned down and left to die in the middle of the road and according to eyewitnesses who were on the scene for the duration of the incident, the Police and ambulance took a lengthy time to arrive on the scene.
According to the release, officers from the RVIPF Major Crime Team supported by the Firearms Tactical Unit made the arrests.
“Two males were arrested for murder and aiding and abetting murder and are currently being questioned by the investigating officers. Searches of properties during the operation have uncovered a firearm and ammunition and an additional male was arrested for possession of that weapon. A female was also arrested for unlawful possession of a control substance,” said the release.
It said that the officer leading the investigation Detective Chief Inspector Kath Adams noted her appreciation to those members of the public who are providing witness reports to the police.
“We thank the members of the public who have already come forward to help solve this violent and shocking crime but still seek the assistance of other persons who, we know, were in the area at the time. This crime was shocking because it was committed on a busy Sunday evening in the middle of Road Town in full view of families with children enjoying their evening at the nearby ice cream parlour,” the release quotes Adams as saying.
“Pedestrians were also walking through town and congregations were leaving the church when the incident happened. It was fortunate that no other person was injured as a result of the actions of the gunman,” she said.
According to the release, Major Crime detectives are making an appeal to those persons who were in and around Waterfront Drive/Main Street area about 7.15pm on Sunday, 14 December 2014 and who think they saw something to come forward. “No matter how insignificant this information may seem, it could be the piece of the puzzle needed to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” it said.
Persons with information can contact the detectives directly by calling 468-5682. Persons are also invited to give this information anonymously to the Miami-based Crimestoppers number 800-8477.
An expatriate man told this news site that he was surprised and amazed that no one tried to revive Prentice and ensure that he stayed alive until the first responders arrived. He was also dismayed that the first responders took so long to arrive.
“This is something we train for being in the boating industry. We learn to look for vital signs. Someone should have checked whether his vitals were ok,” said the man who declined to be identified. “When these things happen people are afraid of contaminating the crime scene. But we’re talking about a man’s life. He might have stayed alive if someone had helped,” he said.
"Someone could have put pressure on his wound if he was bleeding...when these things happen you have a 45 minute window to keep the person alive and that's it," he said.

I wish I could have taken up the young man and bring him down to the hospital. It would only have taken me about 3 minutes or less to do so and who knows, his life may have been saved.
You chatting p..s the man was shot directly in his heart so tell me what pulse that person felt 15 minutes after
But R.I.P to the fallen soldier. As one born a next one gone!!!!
But on the note with him finding the gun, why you gonna see it and pick it up and take it to your workplace?? When you see trouble you keep away from it, right ? Not tie it to yourself, or report it to the police.
Lord what is happening in this lil place, look at where it happened and the time, wow soon lil children wouldn't need to see action movies anymore cuz they'll stand a good chance seeing it live!! This is very sad
Now you need to go sit down and stop trying to make excuses for his killer. Nobody deserves to die in the way Paul did. I just hope they have enough evidence to charge him.
Amen to that! He was a part of the sp...y's family! Every morning he would faithfully head over to Virgin Gorda for a hard day of work doing construction. He was a quiet one but smiled when it was needed. Did not know him personally but his face has been truly missed in the mornings and afternoon..
Options are:-
1. Tell the Police
2. Keep it in the roof of my workshop. (Get ammunition for it. Make sure the breach is filled and ready.)
3. Give it to one of my two children.
4. Use it to commit a robbery. (Tell court that I have children so that I should not go to jail.)
5. Take it to Tortola to give to a friend.
6. Use it to protect my drugs.
7. Point it at the Government and say "Where is the promised tough gun legislation."
