Man shot in RT; lying on road
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A young man was this evening December 14, 2014 shot and was up to a few minutes ago lying in the middle of the road.
According to persons close to the scene, the shooting took place across from Said’s Department Store in Road Town, Tortola.
It is alleged that gunshots were fired close to an adjacent store and the young man was running from the gunshots. Police and emergency medical services have since arrived on the scene.
This news site has been provided with the full name and address of the victim but out of respect for the immediate family members we have decided to withhold that information.
Public Relations Officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Diane Drayton confirmed with this news site that there was a shooting incident near Waterfront Drive and that one man had been taken to hospital. However eyewitnesses have disputed this and have confirmed that up to post time, the person was still lying in the middle of the road.
This news site will bring you more details as they become available.

What the BVI needs is a moratorium on immigrants from the offending countries if it is serious about reducing crime..
No family member ain't suppose to find they children on the road like a dead dog. Why can't we have song laws for gun person's?
Get cough with a gun it's 5 years. Each short is 3 years.. the small guns carry 8. That's 24 years alone for just the shorts and 5 extra for a gun + 15 to life for murder.
The government encourage murder for the fact they do nothing to help the problem. .. ND say crime low not done. .but they wrong.. it's too high.
RIP young man
Child that they have been given the responsibility to raise to become productive adults.
I don't know if it's camera trick or what but when I watch Tv I see medical personnel moving with urgency I just don't see that here. We are too laid back. Chances are the young man's life could have been saved if he was attended to right away. The young man should not be lying in the road close to an hour before being attended to. The hospital is just a stone throw away.
To the family of the deceased, My condolences. To the coward who shot him, Are you happy right now?Do you feel a sense of achievement? Will you have sweet dreams tonight? What if you die tonight, where will you spend eternity?
Don't forget,we are mere mortals and our days are numbered.
To the family no mother including myself wants to get this kind of news at anytime. Our kids suppose to out live us. Calling on all virgin islanders to stop the violence. I grow up in a living community and now i worry about whether i want to raise my kids here. So sad
The young man was still alive. He wasn't dead. I don't think our first priority should be preserving a crime scene while a young man is lying down in the middle of the road gasping for breath.
This Is sad and Xmas right around the corner my heart out for his family may god give them the strength and understanding in this situation , death is never easily accepted ...looking @ his photo this young man is a flower getting ready to bloom but now won't have that chance ..may god send the Holy Spirit to evict those killer/killers n may the family find forgiveness towards them ...
.Here is a thought.. if not us, then who?.... if not me and you? Who showed compassion on the scene by covering the body with a sheet, two shirts etc. ...rather than wait for 'investigators' and/or 'medical' to do so? Im not clueless to the law but my guess is that everyone was too busy giving their opinion, blaming the NDP, police etc.than stepping up to the need!
Jus sayn exposing ur boxers have consequences
It's extremely dispiriting to realize that our "democracy" is one in name only;
