WEST END, Tortola, VI- A significant amount of cocaine has reportedly been recovered by law enforcement authorities following a high-speed pursuit involving local police and Customs officers and US Coast Guard today, April 11, 2021.

This information was disclosed by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) moments ago.

Cocaine found in waters

“Police can confirm that as a result of a joint operation involving US authorities, RVIPF and local Customs officers, a boat was pursued into the Fort Recovery area in West End, Tortola and beached.

“A search by law enforcement has uncovered a significant quantity of suspected cocaine in the nearby waters,” the RVIPF said in a brief statement to the local media.

1 arrested

It noted that one person is in custody.

“No other information is available at this time. Investigations continue.”

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Michael B. Matthews had also confirmed the incident, commenting to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) that “It’s another significant drugs seizure.”

Police & US Coast Guard engage in high-speed chase with powerboat in WE

Information just reaching our newsroom is that ranks from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in collaboration with the US Coast Guard were engaged in a high-speed chase with a powerboat in West End today, April 11, 2021.

The joint operation, which took place around 3:00 pm reportedly saw the use of a helicopter and US Coast Guard vessels.

According to reports, the operation was to nab persons engaged in illegal entry.

It is unclear where exactly the chase started and whether the operation has been successful.

Police Commissioner Michael B. Matthews confirmed the incident but did not provide details.

    I hope the RVIPF cautious and compassionate where they hold this young person on remand. While i was in Balo, they didnt give two d*mns and i ended up getting my cheeks busted quite regularly.
