LONG BAY, Beef Island, VI- Two persons have been arrested and a large amount of suspected cocaine seized, following an operation between local and US Virgin Islands (USVI) authorities in the East End/Beef Island area early this morning, Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), the joint operation between US Federal Agents and RVIPF officers, involving both air and marine access from both agencies, culminated this morning with a boat chase that ended on Long Bay, Beef Island.

“A significant amount of what is believed to be cocaine was seized in the operation, along with speed boat,” the RVIPF stated today.

It also said two persons are now in custody.

“Investigations are active therefore no other information is available at this time,” The RVIPF informed via the statement.

One reportedly arrested after joint operation boat chase ends @ Beef Island

A joint operation among local and Us Virgin Islands (USVI) authorities around 4:15 AM today, Tuesday, May 9, 2023, reportedly saw a boat chase ending at Long Bay Beef Island and at least one person arrested, according to reports reaching our news centre. 

The operation also involved a helicopter from Customs and Border Patrol in the USVI.

The boat chase ended after the powerboat ran aground at Beef Island.

The person arrested was reportedly caught after he jumped overboard.

It is unclear if anything illegal was found in the boat. 

Our news centre will bring more details as the story unfolds.

People are always complaining about how criminals get away, and now when they did this joint force, some idiots are talking about how the helicopter woke them up. What morons think law enforcement must only fly over and catch criminals from 9 to 5 when they are awake. Good job law enforcement and don't worry about the sleepers being awakened because if you didn't catch them, they would be saying you are not doing your jobs.

        Please stop with the drama. There is no way a helicopter would attempt to land on any apartment roof here in the BVI, you want the apartment roof to crumble and sink? If you are feeling afraid simply call the ambulance to escort you to the EMERGENCY ROOM. When the loud motor bikes and cars with the loud music and mufflers is up and down disturbing people out of their sleep you are ok with that right?

      I guess the sudden gunshots and wailing cries of mothers standing over their sons casket don't scare the s..it out of you. I thank God that that is at least some of the trafficking stuff through the place that would not end up in somebody's child nose.       The US Coast Guard and the helicopter scare the living hell out of you? What are you looking for? You should be more afraid and scared of the killers that is walking around freely. Next time it might be 2 helicopters. The same way they came for West Bank they are going to be coming for a whole lot more.Tell the drug runners, gun runners and money runners to stop running their sh** in US waters. The Coast Guard is so high tech that they can spot the idiots a mile away in their speed boats in pitch dark. You were scared? You ain’t experience scared yet.       Half if those children was sleeping and slept through the noise. A police helicopter flying overhead can’t compare to the damn motor bikes and cars blasting loud music all times of the night.     Great job to the Officers from the USVI and our Officers here in the BVI. Continue working together becuz we all are being affected.
    Yes it was scary and disturbing with the Helicopter so low but that’s the least as long as we get these Criminals off the streets.
    Too much Drugs and Firearms entering our Country and causing a lot of murders.
    At that time of the morning on the sea is nothing but illegal activities going on. Only a matter of time for them to get caught becuz everything only for a time.

      In the UK the drug and gun violence is worse including human smuggling. Even in the USA it is at an epidemic with plenty violence through mass shooting in malls. Now a days, nowhere in the world is exempted from these actions. We need to get to the route of the issues as the BVI do not make nor manufacture drugs nor guns.
