ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) has said it continues to monitor a tropical wave in the Atlantic that could possibly be the next named storm of the season.

In an update this morning, September 14, 2025, DDM said the tropical wave is moving across the Atlantic and has a high chance of becoming a storm in the next 7 days.

"It is moving west-northwest toward the Caribbean.

VI impacted by Hurricane Erin in August

On August 17, 2025, the Virgin Islands was impacted by Hurricane Erin, the fifth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

While the Category 5 hurricane did not directly hit the Virgin Islands (VI), heavy rainfall and thunderstorms associated with the storm impacted the infrastructure of the Wilfred Smith Power Station, leading to extended power outages across the Territory.

There were also rockslides and flooding in low-lying areas.
