Total system shutdown on Saturday being investigated- BVIEC

POCKWOOD POND, Tortola, VI- The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) has said it is investigating the cause of the island-wide power outage that occurred on Saturday morning, May 6, 2023.

In a press release today, May 9, 2023, BVIEC said at approximately 10:17 AM on Saturday last, a fault occurred at the Henry Wilfred Smith Power Station at Pockwood Pond, which resulted in a total system shutdown.

“The entire grid was restored by 2:55 PM and the cause of the fault is currently under investigation,” BVIEC stated.

The Corporation said it would like to thank the public for its patience and it regrets any inconvenience caused.

    at least youall got to see the coronation. Things going go wrong in life. Was in Puerto Rico some weeks ago and whole island was blackout. if we have have a problem and it is detected, lets fix it. If old parts need to change, let's work on it. We live, learn and grow. Next!

    You all know what is the problem. Put the right qualified worker in the right job. Fix that. Then get the necessary Maintenace done. Continue keeping qualified worker on the fringe and don't promote into those vacant posts and the same thing going to happen again and again.
