ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Governor of the Virgin Islands, Daniel Pruce, has expressed deep sadness over the passing of Mrs Astrid C. Wenzke, a cherished and longstanding member of the community. Her unwavering commitment to others touched countless lives across the Virgin Islands.

In an official statement on the passing of Astrid, Pruce stated, “For more than four decades, Astrid exemplified extraordinary humanitarian spirit here in the VI.’’ 

Wenzke served multiple organisations, including the Rotary Club of Tortola, the Lions Club, the Red Cross, the BVI Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Tortola Ladies Club, and the Diabetes Association, among many others.

The governor noted that he had the personal privilege of working with Astrid through the Old Government House Museum Board and the Visiting Ships Committee. 

Wenzke had a deep knowledge of VI history 

He remarked, “Her deep knowledge of the VI's history and her steady counsel made her an invaluable presence in all our work.” 

Pruce added, “Astrid enriched our community, not only through her charitable work but also through her kindness, warmth, and genuine care for those around her. On behalf of my office. I extend heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, fellow volunteers, and to all those who had the privilege of knowing her.”

The governor expressed gratitude for her lifetime of service, stating, “May her legacy of compassion, dedication, leadership, and community spirit continue to inspire us for years to come.”

    Her voice was an unwavering force for the issues of communicable diseases!

    Beautiful life of giving Astrid proud of who you were and the legacy you left behind. Bvi lost a servant to mankind. Glad I knew you.
