'Send me Balo' - Kawa Cornwall tells Snr Magistrate

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Arrogance and ignorance best describe the behaviour of Kawa Cornwall when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this morning July 10, 2015 to the point that he told Senior Magistrate Tamia N. Richards to send him to prison.

Ignorance

Cornwall was before the court to plead to the offense of possession of a controlled substance as occasioned on November 20, 2014 in Scatliffe Alley, Tortola. He pleaded not guilty to the offense.

He had another case in the court for common assault for which he was previously placed on bail. The man’s ignorance of the law became evident when the Senior Magistrate told him that the same person who posted bail for him in the common assault matter couldn’t do so for the possession of a controlled drug charge.

Arrogance

In an arrogant move Cornwall told the Magistrate, ‘Send me balo cause me aint going through all dis,” as he aggressively accused the Magistrate of purposely trying to give him a hard time. However the Magistrate at the time was calmly trying to work out with the accused the possibility of him securing someone else to sign for bail on his behalf.

However the man became even more infuriated and insisted that he be sent to Her Majesty’s Prison and even told the Magistrate “Do what you want” as he became loud in the court and had to be whisked away to the holding cell at the Magistrate's Court.

Drop and run

In the allegations read in court it was said that on November 20, 2014 the accused was seen sitting on a wall in the vicinity of Chris Bar packing something into a small bag. As the officer turned and was approaching the accused he allegedly dropped a paper bag and ran in the direction of Scatfliffe Alley.

As he ran he also allegedly dropped a quantity of small ziplock bags/dime bags. He was pursued by the police officers who managed to catch hold of him. They told him of the brown paper bag and he denied knowledge of it.

According to the allegation the brown paper bag contained a large quantity of small zip lock bags and a large plastic. Each contained what was suspected to have been cannabis. It amounted to 250 grams when weighted.

Kawa Cornwall, a born Tortolian, is a construction worker who resides at Long Bush. He will be returned to the Magistrate’s court on October 5, 2015 for report.

I believe him. I think she is purposeful against young men. Her history is there. Maybe that`s why the young man stood up and speak out.

She obviously is the one that knows better and should do better--she has the degrees----Jimmy cliff said in harder they come album-" Treat the youths right or they will put up a fight" I think more of these people in power need to listen to more Rasta music.. So they know how to with people...the may have committed a crime--but comforting words and good advice with a gentle tone makes a terrorist put down his bombs. Makes a bad boy weep. when we try to be tough and loud and bossy its natural for us to be defensive--Especially the youths.--Who knows better do better.

Ears you have a point---that's the word on the street---so the young man basically knew of his fate before the case even heard---He was just stating what he thinks the out-come would be.

Two key words in this article is arrogance and ignorance. Those two words perfectly fit some of you bloggers here. He was on his way to get bail all he had to do was to get a surety and not the same one who sign for him before but because he is so dum he behaves like an ass in the court and now some of you ignorant and arrogant asses trying to blame the magistrate. How callous

AT the end of the day Mr. Cornwall needs to realize that it is his life in problems not the magistrate. Anyway, thats a generational curse thats needs to be broken off this family life. They need some serious deliverance.
