TRELLIS BAY, Beef Island, VI – As the old year 2020 came to an end, scores of persons rang in the new year 2021 at the Loose Mongoose Bar at Trellis Bay on Beef Island.

The black & gold themed New Year’s bash featured live performances from the Extreme Band and DJ Dagger, as guests partied, dined and said goodbye to a year defined by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aa part of the extravagance, guests also enjoyed a full buffet of Caribbean flavours which included lobster, whole-roasted pigs and the local style peas & rice.

Meanwhile, over at the iconic Foxy’s Bar and Restaurant on Jost van Dyke, the scene was sombre and void of the hundreds of locals and tourists who usually flock the island for the annual Old Year's Night” celebration.

Silenced by the absence of revellers, about 15 people were photographed around 9:00pm having dinner in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, while hundreds flocked other hotspots across the territory to say goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021.

I totally agree. These jacka****s couldn't care less about mask or social distancing. The authorities put pressure on Churches to observe covid protocols, but allow these backanals, with no one monitoring them. What a bunch of hypocrites! I willnot be surprised, when the Minister gives the next covid update, that we see more new cases.

      You said it...

We are stupid. No compliance, no thoughts for others, nothing. We are nothing and deserve the Covid. If it kills our fellow man, who cares as long as it isn’t us? We are fools.

And we worry about the tourists? Wtf. We are doomed.

      Carry on.

We expect this. I am sure that this was given a stamp of approval by the relevant agency(ies), otherwise inspectors would have crashed the party. We talk a lot about social distancing etc. but we always fail when it comes to enforcement.

“Slackness” enforcement here is a problem with everything especially motor scooters, lots of talk and rules to follow but no enforcement always has been so

    • @Mask? (02/01/2021, 01:09) Like (8) Dislike (1) Reply
What fines might I ask? All talk. They are not serious. That is all talk. Seems like they are afraid to fine anyone. Typical BVI RIGHT? TALK THE TALK BUT CAN’T/SLOW TO SHOW RESULTS. PEOPLE DON’T LIKE GETTING HIT IN THE POCKETS, START HITTING THEM IN THE POCKETS AND SEE HOW FAST THE BULL***T STOPS. IF CHILDREN IS NOT WEARING A MASK THE PARENT SHOULD BE FINED ALSO. WHAT IS SO DAMN HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHAT SOCIAL DISTANCING MEANS.

Funny how no masks are worn in this pic and school is opening up on Monday. Sounds like a recipe for a major disaster in the making. We are getting too relaxed.

ONE PARTY BROADCASTING STRIPPERS ON A PARTY BUS AT THEIR EVENT. LAWLESSNESS!!!!

This is unbelievable!!!! And of course let’s make the tourists take 85 COVID tests in 3 days. That is really going to make BVI safe when the super spreaders from this party start mingling with the rarest of the population. Killing our economy for assholes like these party goers.

This right here was nothing but a Superspreader. As a Bvi native living in NY,this is frightening. I pray for my homeland everyday because if you all get a real of this virus it can wipeout the entire Island..I have seen deaths by the thousands daily. Personally, I have lost my College roommate,Sister-in-law,and dozens of Union Brothers and Sisters. What I experienced back in February before anyone knew what Coronavirus was, I now know it was the virus but treating my symptoms as they developed,I was lucky to come out on the right side. After a night like this, people go to work, school and Church and even in their homes and unknowingly spread this virus to their co- workers and elderly parents at home.My people please take this virus seriously..remember “ Mask It Or Casket” and “Six Feet Apart Is Better Than Six Feet Under.”

Well, outsiders are the ONLY ones who have the virus, so there should be nothing to fear!

BVIslanders on land, however, have superior immune systems!!!

What is the noise all about?

Ah hope when the super spreading begins, the Premier just don't blame us outsiders!

I thought that there was a law in the BVI that you must wear a mask once in a business place, The same government that is doing a good job keeping us free of the Virus is the same government that will be responsible if we get a big out brake just look at the picture.

The government will not do anything about people breaking the law, shame on you.

So why is Mongoose and other bars not being fined for patrons not wearing masks or social distancing?? Is it the fact that they are all part of the lodge? There are guests passing through the same establishment to reach boats for private islands.
