BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline E. Vanterpool has said the two officers injured in a recent vehicular accident are recovering well.

Ms Vanterpool was the guest on Talking Points yesterday, Monday, July 14, 2025, when she spoke about her officers’ condition.

The two officers were responding to a sudden death report on the evening of July 5, 2025, in the West End Police District, when they became involved in an accident.

The police vehicle, GV 0668, slammed into a light pole at The Bluffs. The officers were transported to the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment.

The police vehicle involved sustained front-end damage.

“They are doing well. One has been discharged from the hospital; he just got a dislocated shoulder, but the other one sustained some [really] serious injuries.”

The officer she disclosed was airlifted to Trinidad last week, where he underwent surgery.

“He had a broken C1 vertebra, according to the doctor, in the neck, and then his shoulder and also his spine.”

Acting CoP Vanterpool quickly added that the surgery was successful and that she was able to see him walking right after the surgery.

“He is expected to be back in the Territory sometime this week,” she disclosed.

The RVIPF is investigating the circumstances which led to the crash.

with those types of injuries to his neck and spine she saw him “walking right after the surgery?”

Making too much rash comments in the media same as she made regarding the guns found regarding the last murder

I am happy to hear they are recovering. My question is, why was the driver driving so fast that they lost control of the vehicle? Responding to a sudden death means the dead person is not going anywhere, so no rush, and it does not mean driving with such recklessness. It could have resulted in their sudden deaths, too. Something is suspicious about this accident!
