The way government functions needs to be revamped. The Cabinet, the Executive Branch, chaired interestingly by the governor seemed to be making some decisions which should be made the HOA, the Legislative Branch. Was this issue part of the budget appropriation? Save for emergency situations, the Executive branch expenditure should be limited to money appropriated by HOA. Check and Balance. Nonetheless, even though the Executive branch is executing the budget passed by the HoA, equal to greater than a certain dollar value, eg, $100K, should get approval by HoA. This was the weak and lack policy that permitted $7.2M to be approved by the MoF and/or Cabinet without HoA input/vote. What Governor doing chairing Cabinet?

Like the idea of non-emergency expenditures equal to or greater than a specified dollar value go to the HoA for action. This will involve HoA more than a periodic meeting which most of them are late for. The speaker needs to start fining them. They have no respect for the electorate; this tardiness does not demonstrate, seriousness nor professionalism. The policy of taking all expenditures at or above a certain dollar value must guard against expenditures being deliberately split up to avoid going to HoA. If you ask me the HoA needs to meet weekly or at least biweekly. Another thing, why questions have to be submitted before hand. Ministers should be able to answer questions posed by the opposition or the public. If he or she don’t know the answer, they can follow up later with an answer for the record. Time should be reserve for the public to ask questions and make statements; statements should be limited to 3-5 minutes. All gifts, grants, etc, needs to be accepted by the HoA.

While I am not against Revenue increases, there are so many other things that should increase beside box fees.
    1. DMV fees are a joke and should increase
    2. Annual property taxes should also see an increase
    3. All commercial buildings should have a mandatory annual fire inspection and charge a fee
    4. Court Reporters are pocketing thousands personally and Government coffers don’t make a dime. Mr DG stop playing family politics and do something
    5. Notary Public annual renewal fees are low
    6. Lawyers from all walks of life come to the BVI to get called to the Bar for pennies and go off to practice BVI law for a nominal fee each year. If you do not live in BVI your fee for using our name should be more.

Are all post office boxes the same rate, regardless of the size? Not fair at all. The fees should be based on the box size.

Same thing I was wondering. There should be a cost for each size of letter box, as it was before. It is unfair for smsll letter box holders to pay the same as large letter box holders

Come on Guys!!!! Stop turning a deaf ear on the cry of people. Stop it please.
You all go to your fine homes and to rats a## for our People who put you where you are.
    Shame on you!!!!

Before talking about raising letter box rent, you people must first make share the boxes are in service and have us. Going to the post office to collect mail. Whhat kind of country do we live in now? Are we to pay for service we do not get? Do not take advantage of the. Citizens of this territory.

I sure FedEx,DHL, aeropost, jml, ups and others are charging more than the government post annual boxing fee and you all are not complaining. But because it is Government you all are complaining.
  • Significant Increase (25/06/2023, 06:53) Like (2) Dislike (0) Reply
That rate of increase is too significant to jump from $35 to $80. I would have to rethink if I truly need this service in 2024 as my Box only collect local bank statements which I can also get online. I honestly see my mailing address changing in 2024 to general delivery. Would there be a cost to get your mail from general delivery also?
