Rafael de Rosario is 1st James Harris Accounting Scholarship recipient

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Rotary Club of Central Tortola awarded the first James Harris Accounting Scholarship to Rafael de Rosario.

He is studying at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC). The scholarship was presented during a meeting of the club on September 25, 2026, at the Village Cay Conference Room. 

“This milestone reflects our continued commitment to investing in education and creating opportunities for the next generation,” the club said in a social media post. 

Honouring the late Rotarian James J. Harris

The Rotary Club of Central Tortola created the scholarship in collaboration with the HLSCC and the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports in memory of the late Rotarian James J. Harris, an accountant, who passed away in 2023. 

The scholarship programme was officially launched on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the HLSCC Paraquita Bay campus. 

Currently, only one scholarship is awarded annually.
