Public can now utilise drop-off canopy @TB Lettsome International Airport
Acting Managing Director of the BVI Airports Authority, Clive A. Smith, confirmed the new covered area is already in use by motorists dropping off and collecting passengers at the terminal. “We are now using the drop-off area for passengers to be able to drop off and traverse to the terminal building,” Smith said.
Smith reminded drivers that the space is strictly a drop-off and pick-up zone and not for parking. “This is a drop-off-only zone, so we do not want persons parking. You come, you drop off or pick up, and then you utilise our parking lot,” he said.
The canopy is designed to give passengers a more convenient, weather-protected route to and from the terminal while easing vehicle flow at the airport entrance.
More improvements
As part of related improvements, the Airport Authority plans to relocate the pay-on-foot parking machine so motorists can pay for parking more easily before leaving the facility.
The project is part of ongoing efforts to modernise the Territory’s main airport and improve the passenger experience.
The Authoritiy had previously announced an initial target completion in early June; however, a new completion date has not been provided.
