Premier Fahie makes it clear he never said no corruption exists in VI

- debunks claims from some members of the public he is condoning wrong & corruption
Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has said that relating to the historic 250M 2020 drug bust in the territory, he never said that there is no corruption in the VI, rather, he praised the system for making the discovery. Photo: VINO/File
Premier Fahie in his 2021 Budget Speech of November 12, 2020, has said that while the centre of focus for the press conference related to the drug bust should have been the capability of local law enforcement to make such a historic find, that was not the case in the joint press conference by Governor Augustus J.U. Jaspert and Commissioner of Police, Michael B. Matthews. Photo: Facebook/File

DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI – Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has said that, relating to the recent historic $250M drug bust in the territory, he never said there is no corruption in the Virgin Islands (VI), rather, he praised the system for making the discovery.

The Premier made the statements on November 25, 2020, during the Third Sitting of the Third Session of the Fourth House of Assembly (HoA).

'I praised our system for finding drugs' - Premier Fahie

“I mean it genuinely that I praise our systems for the greatest drug bust. Some saying that I am out there condoning wrong and condoning this and condoning the other, not agreeing that we don't have corruption,” he said.

Hon Fahie continued, “I just smile because if they played it back they won't hear that I say any of that at all, I am saying that I praise our systems, that our systems were working to make the bust and that our systems are working that we can get certain things done.”

Matthews.

“This latest bust does not show that our system is corrupt, but rather it shows that our system and our officers stand up for what is right,” he said.

There were also concerns raised when photographs of the drugs recovered appeared in UK publications but were not made available to the local media.

Strengthening systems for self-governance

Hon Fahie said the statements by the Governor about the VI having pockets of corruption are a well-calculated attempt to stain the good name of the many hardworking law-abiding citizens, the local law enforcement agencies and the VI economy.

The Premier during his budget presentation further called for systematic strengthening in the VI surrounding COVID-19 policies and other areas management.

“Whatever it calls for in COVID-19 era and beyond to strengthen our systems we have to do because our people have shown that we can police ourselves everywhere you go, there’s going to be good and bad but it is up to the system to be strong enough to weed out the bad and the bad is always a few numbers,” Hon Fahie had said, clearly indicating he was not of the position there is absolutely no corruption in the VI.

The BVI does not have a culture of corruption but there have been cases of corruption. Anybody saying the BVI is corrupt is an idiot.

The UK Only helps white residents, this has been their racist policies from the time of slavery. If you are not white they want red tape and some kind of control system in place. The whites that were residing at the time of slavery were the most corrupt and unruly persons to live in the BVI. There are paper trails of their behavior in the record books, there is records of them beating up officials that the Crown sent to govern over them ‘yet they were given financial support when needed. The UK is racist and 95% of their citizens that live among us are too! They need to leave your shores!!!

If I am not mistaken, didn't you implied that the governor should retract/apologize for his statement alleging corruption in the BVI? If this is so, then it's very likely that people will think that you believe there is no corruption here. So, to be clear are you admitting now that there is corruption in the BVI? Maybe you can clear up what is your stance on this.

Coruption is a world wide inhumane happenings. The B.V.I is no exception to Its diabolic subpressiveness, and other heineous Godless actions. Much baby foods, milk included, are be hindered from entering. pregnant moms bellies to feed unborn fetus, and those more develop ones. These are known facts. Why pretent that they are not?
We can do better, but only if we agree with God our Creator and Spiritual Father way of thinking and acting. Only then will we be able to take a huge bite out of C*******n.
Try filling in the missing letters. If you find it a bit difficult, look to the begining.
