ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A caller to the 3D Show hosted by Doug Wheatley on Friday evening December 18, 2015 lamented that for the Christmas season, musical bands and DJs in the territory are not playing Christmas music unless specifically requested to do so.

The show was broadcast on radio station ZBVI 780 Am between the hours of 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

“They don’t make you feel like it’s Christmas,” said the caller. “You have to beg them to play Christmas songs,” he added.

He recalled the old days when entertainers got with the spirit of the season and played an appropriate selection of music.

“Now if you want them to play Christmas music you have to tell them here this is what I am paying you for, or they will never play it. They will play like if they are playing in a club,” said the caller.

On the show as a guest and making an interjection on a point the caller made was Clarence ‘Boogie’ Freeman.

He said that many DJs don’t have a sense of occasion.

“Actually the DJs don’t know how to start a function. Number one, the kind of music they are going to be playing, that will not turn on nobody,” he said.

The caller continued saying that when he would speak with the DJs about the music they should be playing they would say “old boy, all you old.”

i agree, the DJ's here really suck, ALL of them. They are comfortable with mediocrity, they look at each other and play the same music playlist all of them downloaded off youtube. It's Christmas time and all your hearing is dancehall

Seems like you have forgotten the reason for the season. It is not about spending money you do not have or even money you do have. The reason is the celebration of the birth of Jesus.

Wow. That's so true. The same for Festival. These DJs killing everything. If you listen to other Caribbean Radio station during Christmas or their Carnival make you want to book a flight. These here. With the exception of ZBVI. Have the place dead. Just bla bla bla bla..play the damn music include local old and new. Strruuppeess. I think the solution is a government run station.. Stop giving them easy money for doing nonsense
