One arrested in relation to murder of Azim R. Yonnas

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Detectives of the Major Incident Team of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) have arrested one person for questioning in connection with the September 3, 2023, murder of 25-year-old Azim R. Yonnas of Butu Mountain.

The RVIPF in a press release today, January 19, 2024, said this arrest follows an extensive investigation spanning just over three months.

It said initial enquiries revealed that Yonnas was in the Long Bush area when he was pursued by two armed, masked individuals and was fatally shot. 

Public will continue to be updated on investigation- RVIPF

"While the investigation remains ongoing, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force assures the public that exhaustive efforts are being made to collect all necessary evidence and ensure a comprehensive and fair legal process.

Recognising the importance of transparency, updates will be provided as they become available, while upholding the integrity of the investigation," the RVIPF stated in the release.

Persons who can assist police with information regarding this incident can confidentially call the Crime Stoppers line 800-8477 (TIPS) or overseas call 1-284-800-8477 with the relevant information; or contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.
