ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The National Security Council (NSC) has committed to working closely with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) to solve the most recent murder in the Virgin Islands (VI).

The NSC held its weekly meeting, chaired by Acting Governor David D. Archer, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, just hours after the fatal shooting of Devorn H. Furlonge, 28, in Purcell Estate.

The incident occurred some time after 7:00 AM outside Furlonge’s workplace.

Interim Acting Commissioner of Police Richard Ullger briefed the NSC on the investigation.

Brazen & heinous act

The NSC, in its statement, added that it “strongly condemns this heinous and brazen act”.

The NSC also reiterated its deep concern over the loss of life in what it termed an “illegal and violent manner”.

“The Council extends its deepest condolences to the family and any other loved ones of the victim,” the statement continued.

The NSC said it will continue to work diligently with the RVIPF to use the full weight of the law to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.

Public support solicited

The NSC also called on members of the public to support the police in preventing and detecting crime.

They also urged persons with information to contact the police, call Crime Stoppers or use the confidential and untraceable hotline 800-8477 (TIPS), 800-847-8477, or 368-9339.

The Council also reassured the public that RVIPF will use all of its resources and capacity to keep the community safe during this Christmas season.

No, having a local Commissioner will not be a good thing. Why? Let’s be transparent, to many locals is related to each other and the locals is biased. If you are related to the local Commissioner, grew up with the local Commissioner/ friends/ went to school with and a crime is committed the crime will be swept under the rug.

Thats nice but can yall convince the femals who love gun man and criminals to come forward and sell out the prison escapees

this style of killing matches the same style of murder of benny in fish bay.

can you also get known criminals who are aware of the escapees to come forward before that same prisoner turn on them and kill them. (doubt they would come forward they rather dead by the same guy)

All those worthless females that love the gunmen and criminals and is covering up for the gunmen and criminals need to be rounded up and placed in sealed oil drums and concrete boots and placed in the ocean. After all they are useless and worthless and have nothing to offer to society.

All the worthless damaged goods females that is with the gunman and criminal men do is breed and pup more criminals. They need to sterilize these women to stop them from bringing future criminals into the world or children that is going to suffer.

They are uneducated worthless and lazy. The only thing they are good at is depend on men for money, breed like bunny rabbits , lay up in their mother house, sleep all day and go to the Social Department and beg.

The public will never support the Police. This is not just about mistrust or allegation of curruption within the ranks, the UK or even who is the Commisioner. This is deeply rooted in culture. A dislike for anyone who is not deemed to be a true B.V. Iander based on certain criteria.
Over 90% of the Police are deemed to be outsider, expats or Islandmen, make a choice, with a very small percent branded as "Virgin Islander". ( with parents who were born here and who could trace their grand parents four generation on the Islands)
When you dissect this small group, you will also discover that those who "were born here" with one or both parents from outside the territory are placed in a different category. One of the most common reference is " He/she is not one of is"
The recent demonstrations about the reversion of the Ag. Commisioner and the appointment of a foreign person to fill that rank, was not a support for the Police Force nor about crime, not about law enforcement on a whole but for one person, a BVIslander, who was about to make history.
    This is where we are.
To be fair to the BVI, The Police is nobody's friend regardless of which country you visit. They are always the subject as I mentioned, of curruption, abusers and mistrust amongst other things.
How ever, without them we are left to the mercy of criminal elements and other corrupt elements of our society.
Whether you are a "true" BV Islander or an expat, crime has no boundaries. You could be could just be going about your daily business, driving or walking to work, in your home or a business place or even in church when a crime could impact you. With the way things are going, let's pray it wouldn't be a stray bullet.
Let's say NO to crimes in these beautiful territories. Where are the organisers, the Cs?

@ priest: who gave you the right to speak for the public in regards to combatant works against voilent gun crimes, as to whether we should or shouldn't work with our RVIPF police officers, ah, false priest?

We, the majority of the public is supporting the our NSC that's supporting our RVIPF officers.

Priest you have some valid points but the fact is that there are not many BVIslanders on the force becasue it is not seen as a desirable profession here. There is a disresspect by the public at large that dissuades many from entering the field . I have know some BVIslanders that have gone to the US with the same attitude towards Law enforcement officers only to be give a big does of act right. They immediately understood that not all countries tolerate that nonsense. And while they may be corruption in many Police forces ( there is corrupution in ALL institutions church included) I would prefer to take my chances on the system that has some checks and balnces in place rather than criminals who are greedy , have no trust , no ethics very little capacity to reason and definatley not the greater interest of the well being of the Territory at heart. What we need is a crack down like El Salvador , but I dont believe the BVI has the appetite for that because so many families would be impacted.

Spot on. Peculiar little place. I’ll never forget when the little girl Trinity was murdered, the Police Commissioner at the time said they got zero leads from the public when that incident happened. He said it was the only time in his policing career where the Police got no information whatsoever from the public. That was confirmation for me that we have a serious cultural issue when it comes to crime and that many murderers would continue to go unsolved. The online news sites seem to be the only place they are willing to share some of what they know. Information from the public is crucial for solving crimes and getting convictions.

The word violence dirived from the word violate. The majority of people in this world have most violate their neighbors right, sometimes back and forth, and continuing, even so on such a critical issue as the one.
Even if 20% of our RVIPF is crooked, would 80% not be 4 times as large? How then can we refused to support our RVIPF because their are wolves clothed in sheep's clothing, but rather leave the flood of sheep not garded? Does the make good sense. To some it makes no sense, but in reality they are the ones that need to joint with us, and fully support our local NSC led by our Hon. Governor, Daniel Pruce, the RVIPF led by Cop Richard Ulliger, and suppot by, hopefully, the majority of the people living in the B.V.I., if we know what's good for us.

    To Youths Only:

Question of the day: describe an ultimate accident.

Answer: to all, but especially youths:

An act the cause dents that snuffing out the lives of many youths, especially males both there, and in the BVI, too.

Support our NSC mission against all crimes, including voilent gun tooting banditoroes crimes on going in the B.V.I.

Check and question who the young man was with the night before he was unalive. Who has his cell phone. Did the police retrieve his cell phone off his body or the killer?

Guys I'm a BVI lander and I am in the force

Yes the expats out number is but our very own who are few and in between actually treat us just as bad or lower than the expats especially when they get into power. Nobody wanna work with each other and most there personality and attitude stinks.

Only time I get fair treatment was when a UK supervisor was in charge everybody all of sudden behaving and the UK supervisor actually looks out for your well being smhh

But if you look at all the other government departments that are led by my very own locals like customs and immigration fax etc. you only hear bad things about them and they never in the news for positive work like illegal immigrants, drugs traffickers caught, persons washing money caught....

Only police I see in the news for get big bust and working with the USA.. you know what is for the USA to trust the local police to assist them for major operations and not trust we customs and immigration? Says a lot tbh

Yes we got we corrupted officers but when they are caught we deal with them . They lose their job until DPP lose the case but that's another story for another time. And dpp head by our very own local oh boiiii.

Anyways you get the gif of it

You have to be careful what you say around people that you hang around or with. Someone can take what you said, repeat it to others and result in your death. A lot of people is dead because of others that carry wrong news, be careful of what you say around others.

Too much illegal ppl in this country doing what they please. A set of Jamaicans in east end throwing party and jams almost every weekend. They charging ppl to enter their parties and making money without paying any sort of tax back to the government. The immigration need to clean up east end the way they keep on harassing Mr. Frett tenants in town.

It's jard to imagine that ppl know anout the crimes here and stay silent bc they chat every bit of someone else's business whenever they can. They come on these sites and post all kinda of melee but don't say when they see criminal activity? Perhaps most of us just don't know and deeper investigative policing is required. I knew that fellow only by sewing him in passing but it is heartbreaking to see all these youngsters dying before middle age.
