ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Nevin Sylvester appeared yesterday July 17, 2015 before Senior Magistrate Ms Tamia N. Richards to answer to a two-year old crime he allegedly committed.

It was on October 19, 2013 along the James Walter Francis Road that he was caught red handed by police on patrol who had stopped and searched the vehicle he was driving at the time and found ‎some 6.5 grams of marijuana in a knapsack concealed in some transparent ziplock bags.

He never denied ownership of the weed but had told the ‎police officer who stopped and searched him that he had found the stuff on the waterfront.

He seemed to be of the opinion that since his crime was some two years old and he had within that time grown older, made some positive moves with his life in terms of getting into private enterprise, graduating from College this year which has proven that he is two years older and has developed a mind-set that has matured.

He tried to get the Senior Magistrate to be as lenient with him ‎with sentencing when that date comes around.

Yesterday he pleaded and entered a guilty plea. “I don't think we would meet on these terms again," he told the Magistrate as he is now "viewing life differently."

The Magistrate imposed a $30,000 bail and sent him off to the Sandy Lane Centre for counselling.
