ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Senior Magistrate Tamia N. Richards turned down a bail application for Paul Hodge, a taxi operator from Cane Garden Bay who was allegedly found with over 500 kilograms of cocaine by police on March 6 2021.

Hodge was charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply some 18 duffle bags of the controlled drug, and Possession of a Controlled Drug, which was allegedly found inside a vehicle belonging to Hodge.

He pleaded not guilty to both offences when he made his maiden appearance before the Magistrate’s Court today via Zoom.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) stated in a press release today, March 8, 2021, that cash and documents were among other items confiscated during the raid.

Lawyer Stephen R. Daniels is counsel for the defendant.

The matter is adjourned to April 29, 2021, for report.

Firearm matter

Meanwhile, Magistrate Richards also denied bail for businessman Dwight Callwood.

Callwood, 41, and his girlfriend Pia King, 22, of Butu Mountain were jointly charged with Keeping a Firearm Without a License.

The charges were only put to them for their information as requested by their respective lawyers.

Police conducted a search at the two-story house on March 5, 2021, where the firearm with one live round of ammunition was found on the upstairs porch of a bedroom, hidden in a towel.

Police also found a large quantity of cash in a safe inside the house.

The court denied Callwood bail and ordered that he be remanded to Her majesty's Prison but offered King bail in the sum of $60,000 with a $10,000 cash component, along with one surety.

She is to surrender her travel documents and report to the Road Town Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 6:00 am to 12 noon.

King’s lawyer is Michael Maduro. Callwood is represented by Reynella Rawlins.

Their matter is scheduled for April 29, 2021, for continuation.

People are not sorry. People are only sorry when they are caught. Make a prime example of them especially the 22 year old lady who was found in a house with an illegal firearm. They posting one kinda life while fully involved with another kind of life. Drugs are the devil substance and it’s absolutely not tolerate or welcome in our community.

Young lady, this is an opportunity to examine your life and start anew.

You were created for a purpose and this isn’t it.

Spend time alone with Almighty God in prayer and focus on where He’s guiding you; not people.

When I get in a taxi, I am going to be wondering if the taxi is carrying drugs. The way things is going in this place, I don’t want no gun man doing no drive by aiming for the taxi driver when I am in the taxi. Something to think about. Time to invest in a car.

As per the conspiracy theorist who daily feed the gullible with them, in order to bring them on their side against the government and the people , to fulfil their agenda, there is no evidence of criminal organization within the Government of the Virgin Islands.

These are the kinds of plots and conspiracy theories they are cooking publicly as excuses to take over. Beware!
