New USVI Legislature to be sworn in Monday; Week of events planned

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI - Senators-elects of the 35th Legislature of the Virgin Islands will be sworn in on Monday, January 8, 2022, and the body has planned events throughout the territory next week.

On Sunday, January 8, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. a pre-swearing-in Ecumenical Service will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, on St. John. Immediately followed by a meet a greet in the Legislature, Annex in Cruz Bay, St. John.

Monday, January 9, 2023, at 8:00 a.m., Senators will also attend a pre-swearing-in Ecumenical Service at the Nisky Moravian Church, St. Thomas. Immediately thereafter, members will proceed to the Emancipation Garden for the official swearing-in of the 35th Legislature, which is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.

After which, Senators will proceed to the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Hall in the Capitol Building for the initial session to officially organize the leadership and committee memberships of the 35th Legislature.

A post-swearing-in Ecumenical Service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the City of Refuge Worship Center on St. Croix. Followed by a meet and greet at 12:00 p.m. on the Anne E. Abramson Pier, Frederiksted.
