The first leg of the series featured a one-mile race for under 13 participants and a 1.8-mile race for participants 13 and older. Jermaine A. Ricketts claimed victory in the men's race with a time of 10 minutes 41.96 seconds, while Katrina Lindsay took the top spot in the women’s race with 11 minutes 58.75 seconds. Lindsay has dominated the female category for the past five years.

In the 1-mile under-13 races, Chance Williams led the boys’ category, and Nae’veya Bruce secured first place for the girls. Bruce has been a standout competitor, dominating her division for the last two years.

Race Director, Mrs Stephanie Russ Penn expressed her enthusiasm for this year's series. She said, “We’re excited to showcase the Fun Runs once again, and even more thrilled that every participant walked away with one of our newly branded Mourant HLSCC tokens as a keepsake.”

The Mourant HLSCC College Classic Race Series is also part of a green initiative promoted by Mourant, the title sponsor since 2016, encouraging eco-consciousness among participants. The college has again partnered with Blu Water to provide hydration throughout the races.

The series continues with its next race in Virgin Gorda on Saturday, 28 September 2024, at the HLSCC Virgin Gorda Centre. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m., and the race will start at 7:00 a.m. The Mourant HLSCC College Classic Race Series began in 1996 with just 22 participants at the Paraquita Bay campus. Over the years, the series has grown to include races in Virgin Gorda, attracting runners of all ages and abilities, fostering fitness, fun, and community spirit in the Virgin Islands.
