Mother charged after allegedly severely beating child

WEST END, Tortola, VI- A mother at West End, Tortola, was reportedly arrested recently for allegedly severely whipping her child.

According to reports, the whipping left the child with visible and painful marks about the body.

The mother, said to be a national of Grenada, was reportedly charged and granted station bail in the sum of $2000.

She is scheduled to appear in court on June 25, 2021.

4-year-old suffered broken leg in alleged beating

Only recently a four-year-old boy on Virgin Gorda suffered a broken leg after he was allegedly beaten by his stepfather.

It is unclear if charges have been laid in this matter.

      Let me add to this, i am not against disciplining my child , i am also an expat, but not to the point that i cause bruising and breaking of their body parts. that some kinda anger being expelled and we as parents need to control our emotions.

      @M your words: your friend Lever and Kennedy were pounsher----- there are no crime on the book for such offence. therefore no punishment can be had.

      Maybe if your friend liver and kidney were punctured...........

    Yeah all of you on here chatting bs, but you'll go ahead spare the rod and spoil the child, then when they grow up and have a rap sheet from Beef Island to West End see if this same unforgiving society don't blame,laugh or ridicule you say you didn't correct them.
    I won't let my guard down for NOBODY in this society, they throw too many rocks then hide their hands, therefore I will whop my kids behind before they whop me , or you all fake two faced people on this island pretend with me.

      Well local girl, you are living in the Stone Age by promoting this behavior which in many countries you would do time for.
      Your job as a mother is to lead by example, love, be kind and cherish your offspring.
      You obviously don’t understand the damage that is created, which is commonly known as child abuse. Just like sexual abuse or domestic abuse.

      Don't give in to the liberal thinking. Kids NEED discipline and some actually NEED pain to understand. There's a reason God gave us that extra padding back there and it's not to be a good cushion or to twerk. However there is abuse but that's very different than discipline. Do what's right for your child Momma.

      If you noticed that two stories were uploaded in this article the 4 year old in VIRGIN GORDA has nothing to do with the situation with the mother in WEST END! The child was spanked as if you were in her position you would of lost it as well as the child is around 11 he knew exactly what he was doing

        There is a difference between a spank and losing control of your temper. If the child was left with visible and painful marks as the article states and the police felt the need to press charges then perhaps this mother went too far.

    Since he is for this kind of descipline and promoting it. I wonder how he feels about the mother getting arrested for doing descipline his way and would he intervene on the mother behalf and ask for mercy and forgiveness for the mother... Some children really need a good ass whipping..

      @Hon Sheep. There is a difference between spanking and disciplining a child to beating and physically harming a child. A parent can discipline by whipping a child's butt as not to whopping the child to cause bodily harm. Comprehension and Understanding goes hand in hand and out numbers undermining and misunderstanding any time.

    I am in my 60s and got plenty licks especially for being stubborn and I am a better person for it today. God's word says don't spare the rod and spoil the child. When parents REFUSE TO DISCIPLINE their children, they end up using their weekends visiting with them at Balsam Ghut or at their grave.

      God's word did not say abuse the children like you want to kill them. Some of these women take their anger out on the child when the relationship with the father goes Sour.

    Sometimes the anger may cause someone to temporarily lose it. If its a continuous occurrence then I can say come against her hard but if its a one time event some counselling would be the way. Many a times I've wanted to bang my 7 year old head against the wall or just give her such a hard lick that she would be more obedient and follow through when given instructions. I end up just leaving and go to a corner to either cry or take some deep breaths. At times I may ask my older daughter to deal with her as I know my capability. When one is single mother its especially more hard. Don't be so quick to judge
