Minister for Education announced 81 fully funded scholarships @ HLSCC

PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- Virgin Islanders will soon have the opportunity to access higher education at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC).

Through an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the HLSCC, 81 fully funded scholarships will be available in marine, construction and hospitality training. 

According to a bulletin by the HLSCC, the scholarship programme valued at $200,000 will be launched on March 26, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the college.

The scholarship programme is an expansion of the ‘Let's Teach VI' initiative started by the Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, Hon Sharie B. de Castro (AL).

9 Districts; 9 scholarships 

Prospective students for the fall 2026 semester should be a BVIslander or Belonger, have a high school diploma, and be 16 years and older. Nine scholarships are available in each district. 

Courses will be available in:

  • Marine Professional Training (STCW Basic Safety Training, RYA, ABYC)
  • NCCER CORE with specialisation in Concrete Construction or Carpentry
  • Maitre D online certificate from Les Roches Hospitality School
