ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A young man has been ordered deported from the Territory by Governor Daniel Pruce.

Martoni Antoni Kirk Nisbett, who is a person not deemed to belong to the Territory, was convicted of the offence of handling stolen goods contrary to section 241(1) of the Criminal Code (Revised Edition 2013).

According to Governor Pruce, in the Deportation Order dated May 30, 2025, Mr Nisbett is a person whose presence in the Territory would, in the opinion of the Governor, acting after consultation with the Chief Immigration Officer, be undesirable and not conducive to the public good.

7 days to exit Territory

Governor Pruce ordered Nisbett to leave the Territory of the Virgin Islands on or before the expiration of seven days from the date on which a copy of the Order is served on him by an immigration officer or a police officer, and thereafter to remain out of the Territory.

The Governor further ordered that the said Nisbett be placed on board the first available ship or aircraft about to leave the Territory, “and that the said Martoni Antoni Kirk Nisbett may be detained until he is placed on a ship or an aircraft.”

Laughable deportation. Handling stolen good there are far more worst offences.

@ LOL. NOT a laughable deportation. Every crime, no matter how it is labeled, should not be tolerated, especially from people who claim to have come here to have a better life. We have enough locals committing crimes, we don't need imported criminals. Deport them!

Yet they still slip in and out, sometimes even move back here on a long-term basis without detection. Some of them come here and do the most; causing trouble. They know in their own homes punishment is severe, but Tola sweet.

Locals like y’all is why Tortola will always be stagnant and never getting any better. Tortola has so many expats, all of them contributing to the bvi and all paying their dues. Why is it you guys are hell bent on keeping out outsiders, These people “slip in and out” for a better way of life. Their home countries may not be safe or they just want a better means of providing for their families so they come here helping out our little bvi. But y’all narrow minded thinking is what will keep the BVI stuck. Stealing?!?! And that caused him to be thrown out of the country ?!? When there is far worse going on from our locals. And all they get is a slap on their wrist. Pitiful we are.

Can you revisit the Real World..

So, what you're saying is that we should just accept the bad along with the good? That we should let you transform our home into a crime-ridden society like yours, filled with the crime and issues you've escaped from, while also welcoming some of your untrained kids and criminal elements, just like we've accepted your PAID workforce?

Governor, I applaud you. More of them need to be sent out of here. They come to the country with their demons, driving up the crime rate, doing some of the most heinous things. I am glad you have taken this stance, instead of sending him to prison so tax payers monies can be used to take care of him. We have our own bad apples in the BVI, when you come in people place no matter what you see going on, conduct yourself in a lawful manner.

Handling stolen property basically means that you had in your possession an item you know to be stolen or believe to be stolen. The handler of the property is no different than the person who stole the property.

They simply do not have the ability to do betteras evidenced by the high crime rate in their free and independent governing countries. We import and installed these morally void humanity by the thousands in addition to.our convenient open borders unsecured for their easy coming and going. Jamaicans are being deported from usa, daily by the thousands, the najority are murderous criminals so we leaving our borders open wider for their expected arrival on our dryweather lil spot.. Po We.

What about others who committed even more serious crimes and were allowed to stay? What a place, back in the day if you were suspected with clear evidence that you were committing offenses such as drug trafficking you were sent out.

He is a repeat offender. You think the governor would deport on one infraction? If you get an opportunity to better yourself, would you still repeat the offense? That's where it start from one offense to different criminal activities. Why should the government give him another chance? They need to clean up the BVI and not continue to house criminal here. I remember back in the days when you could sleep with your house open. Not now!

When you say deport all the men and women who are destroying family lives , you need to give more details cause yall run loosely with this narrative of island ppl coming to the bvi and breaking up happy homes when in reality yall don’t know how to keep a happy home , for the most simple things like a keeping a clean home , cooking a hot meal and handling your household have been a total failure and that’s why some homes are easily broken , so when all the men and women get deported back to the islands yall would stay living in misery with both u and your family miserable cause u can’t get no sort of the about mentioned from the lil side piece huh ?

Thank you Governor. I’ve read in dismay some of the comments here. Enough is enough! The BVI has become complacent with too many things and we need to start cleaning up the place. I hope this sends a message to others, Governor. Do BVIslanders commit crime? Of course they do and we will deal with them here but we should not also have to deal with those from other countries.

Why would anyone have kids if it means stealing from society to take care of them? Most folks just get a job, regardless of whether their parents can help out or not..."especially" a man. So, if that child is just a baby, was this guy really planning to be a career criminal for the next 18 years to make ends meet?

We have people who have been convicted of molesting children when they were teaching at the high school and is now transporting minors to and fro school and is still in the bvi. then molest family member while that was kept on hush. Why? We need to deport all the cockroaches from the bvi immediately. Wife and her mother have big bvi name so they begged for you to stay but that's unfair.
