Man reportedly fires high-powered firearm in Long Bush

Information just reaching our news centre is that a man reportedly discharged rounds from a high-powered firearm in the vicinity of a barber shop in Long Bush. Photo: Team of Reporters
LONG BUSH, Tortola, VI- Information just reaching our news centre is that a man reportedly discharged rounds from a high-powered firearm in the vicinity of a barber shop in Long Bush just before 9:00 PM today, Sunday, May 28, 2023.

It is also said at least one person has been injured and has been taken to Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

The individual was reportedly shot in the leg and chest.

Reports are that the weapon used was a “machine gun”.

Police are said to be on the scene.

More details to follow.

It was on Saturday morning, May 27, 2023, that Vicardo Farrell aka ‘scar’ was gunned down in Manchester on Tortola.

      What is this place coming to? This place done gone, came back and gone again. Remember there was a time when everyone was saying these things only happen in America? And they don’t happen here? It is becoming more dangerous to live here than in America. I don’t see anything getting any better with the gun problems we are having here unless the military is sent in to do a major sweep and clean up. If they have to bring in military tanks to take them out then so be it. Purge every last one included the women that is involved and is in training to be the next trigger pullers. When you hear those random gun shots going off up in the hills at nights that is part of their training session.

      Mr. Gage, I also can only hope that no one got hurt. It is becoming wild Wild West here.       The USA continues to manufacture guns and remain loose about who can access them. That’s why they have issues with gun violence. The USA is likely the main source of the guns in the VI as well.

    Well there seems to be some war zone in the Territory that the government does not know of. I wonder if some of the persons who are discharging these high-powered weapons would volunteer to serve in the British army or the U.S army where they would have the opportunity to use these weapons legally. As for our little island, the residents are living in fear of their lives. I do hope that good sense will prevail and we would not hear of any more shooting. Fortunately, there was no loss of life.
