ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has arrested and charged two males in connection with separate firearm recoveries during recent police operations in the Territory.

A 17-year-old male of North Sound, Virgin Gorda, was charged with Carrying a Firearm without a License and Unlawful Possession of Explosives following the July 17, 2025, recovery of a loaded Glock 19 pistol during a response to suspicious activity near a bank in Road Town.

The teen was one of two male juveniles intercepted during the operation.

Stop & check operations yield firearm & ammo

In a separate incident, Malachy Payne, 25, of Mount Healthy, was also charged with Keeping a Firearm Without a License and Unlawful Possession of Explosives after officers recovered a firearm and ammunition during a stop-and-check operation in the Huntums Ghut area.

According to the RVIPF in a press release today, August 1, 2025, both individuals have been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison as investigations continue.

Police said these charges come amid the RVIPF’s intensified efforts to rid the Territory of illegal firearms and ammunition.

14 firearms & 995 rounds of ammo recovered for 2025

As of mid-July, a total of 14 firearms and 995 rounds of ammunition have been recovered.

The RVIPF thanks the public for its continued support and urges anyone with information about illegal weapons or suspicious activity to contact the Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS) or (284) 800-8477 from overseas.

are yes more teens with gunsss

wa the young adults said again? that is the old generation fault that they lack culture and theirs a generation gap so the old generation wont understand that the new generation loves dancehall music that promotes and encourages sex, vulgarly dressed minors, guns, violence, gangs, weed, rum criminal life etc. cuz ntn wrong with it right? okay well we got 13-18 yrs olds with guns i guess ntn influenced that.. what is gun used for again? some of you might say protection but what does a school child need protection from that they need a weapon that can easily take a life? anyways back to blasting dancehall music and drinking rum, smoking blend, and dry humping each other while getting into fights. yea! we dont need the police either! we young generation is fine over here!
