ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Thanks to a brace by the Virgin Islands' first professional football signing Luca E. Chalwell, the [British] Virgin Islands recorded a historic 3-1 win against Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) in the CONCACAF Nations League at A.O. Shirley Ground on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

It is the first time the Virgin Islands have beaten TCI across all football competitions on the senior level.

The hosts went ahead in just the 4th minute when skipper Kavon Troy Caesar headed in a corner by Tyler Forbes.

Chalwell then gave the VI a 2-nil lead in the 10th minute when he received a pass in the box from Forbes and made no mistake in finding the back of the nets for this first goal at senior level.

TCI; however, pulled one back in added on time before the half when Christian Xavier was adjudged by referee Victor Rivas of the USA to have committed a foul in the box. Billy Forbes stepped up to keep TCI in the game.

5 minutes after the resumption Chalwell struck again to return the VI lead to 2. It was another assist from Forbes that Chalwell used to register his brace and see the VI to a 3-1 win.

After the game, Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R5), who witnessed the match, said he was impressed with the growth of the team and also announced that Chalwell will be named a VIBassador.

Forbes was player of the game, He set up all 3 goals and probably should have scored at least 2 himself.

He didn't do it by himself because if it wasn't for Tonic's son, they would not have won,

Who say it was done by any individual alone. Why don’t you crawl back into your hole and allow the team to celebrate their win. The team played fantastic.

When Tyler gets headlines we celebrate, we don't try and bring him down with comments like yours to minimalize other players achievements on the field because a headline wasn't worded how you like. This was a fantastic team win by all players working together. I'm really looking forward to what Luka and Tyler can do together for the BVI. Congrats Luka on your first 2 international goals. Tyler knows what that feels like and I'm sure he is happy for you.
