King and Maloney off to “Indoor Fliers” for Vikings

Karene King ran to a first in the 200 and a second in the 60 metres as the Vikings got their indoor season off to a great start
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Competing at the Jackson Open and Multi Meet in Boise Idaho, both Karene King and Dominique Maloney got their seasons off to winning starts over the weekend of December 3 and 4, 2011, in the 200 and 400 metres respectively.

Running for her University, Portland State, sprinter King also finished second in the 60 metre dash. Her time of 7.59 being just 0.04 seconds behind the winner and fellow Viking Geronne Black.

King won the 200 in 24.34 ahead of Stanford's Shataya Hendricks.

PSU Senior, Maloney won the women's 400-meters with a time of 57.29 rounding out the three individual wins on the women's side.

The girls will now have over a month off to train and hone their skills even more before heading to Seattle, Wash. to take part in the UW Indoor Preview on January 14, 2012 in the team's first of three events held at the Dempsey Indoor facility.
