Kaelyaah Liburd & Jaleel J.N. Croal break NR @ NCAA event

JACKSONVILLE, Florida, USA- Two Track and Field athletes from the Virgin Islands (VI) have set new national records at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships First-Round in Jacksonville, Florida.

On Thursday, May 29, 2025, Kaelyaah Liburd set a new Women’s 400M national record with a time of 51.43s. She has qualified for the next round today, Saturday, May 31, 2025. 

The previous record of 51.63 seconds was set by Ashley Kelly in 2017 at the Tru Fit Miami Invitational.

Jaleel J.N Croal breaks NR twice in the same month

Meanwhile, Jaleel J.N. Croal set a new Men’s 200M national record at the NCAA East Prelims on May 30, 2025, with a time of 19.95s. 

This new record by Croal comes just about two weeks after he broke the previous national record held by Dion Crabbe (20.30s) at the American Outdoor Championships 2025 held at Irwin Belk Track & Field Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Croal now ranks 6th in the world in the 2025 Outdoor Season.

    Croal is the virgin islands best 200 m sprinter since guy hill. Yes I said that. After a hip injury in his first carifta games in Barbados in 77" he was never the same but still competitive. Congrats Jaleel.
