JVD man allegedly admits to using 'weed' for 'breakfast, lunch & dinner'
A quantity of cannabis was allegedly found in three parcels in three different sections of Pickering's home when it was searched by police officers on September 24, 2014.
According to the prosecution, one set was allegedly found in a bowl on a cabinet and when asked by police officers what it was Pickering allegedly said, "It is weed for personal use."
After being told by Police that it was an offense, the defendant allegedly told them, "Officer I am a rasta man and that's all you gon find in my house."
The second set of cannabis was allegedly found in a brown paper bag on top of a refrigerator. It was at that stage Pickering allegedly told the cops, "Officer that is weed, I smoke it for breakfast, lunch and dinner."
The third set of cannabis was allegedly found in a black plastic bag on the floor near to a refrigerator and when told of the find, Pickering allegedly told the police, "I don't know nothing about that."
However, he allegedly eventually admitted to owning all the drugs in a written statement to police after he was taken into custody.
When the facts of the case were read in court by attorney Anjel Flax-Solomon, it was indicated that the amount was some 406.6 grams of cannabis. However, when the charge was put to the man, Senior Magistrate Richards read it to say 406.8. This is likely to be clarified when Pickering returns on July 22, 2015 for report.
The defendant was placed on $30,000 signed bail and is to return to court on July 22, 2015.
