Illegal immigrants repatriated to Haiti - Ian B. Penn

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Acting Chief Immigration Officer Ian B. Penn has confirmed that the illegal immigrants caught in the territory's waters on April 28, 2016 were on May 5, 2016 put on a flight to Haiti.

Penn also confirmed that one of them who had been hospitalised was released and sent home.

“The illegal aliens have been repatriated to Haiti on May 5, 2016. One of the immigrants who was ill was hospitalised and treated and was able to make the flight back,” said Penn in a text message to this news site today May 11, 2016.

Police had assisted the Immigration Department with the detention of the 18 illegal immigrants after Police apprehended them on Marina Cay, just northeast of Tortola.

Of the 18, three were females. Two were believed to be nationals of St Maarten and the others were Haitian nationals. The captain and crew of the boat were believed to be among those detained.

The boat, which had landed on Marina Cay, was at the time taking on water when Police arrived.

    all our ancestors came over and hatians was the first island to free us as a ppl from the hands of our opresssors yet we look at haitians as nothing being programme by the same oppressors agaianst our own black ppl
