Hon Turnbull to hold series of community meetings

Turnbull made the remarks during an exclusive interview with Virgin Islands News Online on Friday November 11, 2016, informing on a series of community meetings that he will be spearheading in his District. The first will be on November 14, 2016 in Myers at the Enis Adams Primary School, then on the 15th at Brewers Bay, at the Brewers Bay Community Centre, on the 16th at Cane Garden Bay at the Cane Garden Bay Community centre and on the 17th at Jost Van Dyke at Rudy’s Conference Room.
Meetings will begin at 7: 00 P.M. on Tortola and 6.30 P.M. on Jost Van Dyke.
“I am doing my best”
Asked to assess his tenure to date, Hon Turnbull said: “I have learned a lot thus far, and it has been a good experience. I am doing what I love to do which is serving people, doing what I can to help. I don’t want to be and to pretend to be all things to all persons…I am my hardest critic, so far I would say I am satisfied and I would also leave it for you to field some of the questions in the District to see if they are satisfied,” he said.
Turnbull continued, “I think I am doing my best thus far and I don’t think anybody can ask for better than my best but at the end of the day that’s what these meetings are for, for persons to tell me what they think, what their concerns are, something that they feel that I should have done and haven’t done. But I believe in this year we have made major strides in this District which has been left unattended so to speak for a long time.”
Notable accomplishments
He also listed down a few projects of noteworthiness.
Completion of the fisherman’s ramp and the wall at Brewers Bay, the extension of the wall near the Turnbull’s in Myers, potable water in Brewers Bay from Luck Hill down to Brewers Bay, and successfully addressing the sewerage problem at the Ivan Dawson School are some of the things Hon Turnbull mentioned as accomplishments.
He also mentioned the Christmas in May event for the community, the renovation of a home as well as his $5,000 pledge to each of the primary schools in his District which have been done for the year already and will continue as long as he is the Representative.
Hon Turnbull said the series of community meetings will update his constituents on what he has been doing in the District and to get their feedback on various issues.
“I try to keep the community as informed as possible and also give them an opportunity to field questions, hear their concerns and see what we can do to address them. It is just a time for me to continue to connect with the people who put me there to represent them,” he said.
In at least two meetings there will be ministers of government to address issues that may arise.

Give the young leaders a chance. Do you know HL Stoutt was 28 years old when he
began to lead this country? Think again that boys grow up to be men, and great men
too. Give Mr. Turnbull a chance. He has demonstrated he has the ability.
