Hon Turnbull denies being approached by Hon Walwyn to join PLM
Skelton-Cline said on the October 6, 2026, airing of his show that Hon Walwyn met with Hon Turnbull, offering him the position of Deputy Premier to move to PLM with him, and that he had turned down the offer.
However, Turnbull, who is the Deputy Chairman of the NDP, addressed the matter on NDP Radio on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. “Honourable Walwyn and I had no such conversation about joining PLM,” he said.
I’m a member of NDP
Vanterpool formed PLM after he lost the chairmanship of the NDP in April 2026 to Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8). “Honourable Vanterpool did what he did after the democratic process of the National Democratic Party.”
Vanterpool’s move, he said, came even after saying he would support whoever wins the chairmanship.
“Now we are here, and I had no such conversation with Honourable Walwyn because Honourable Walwyn, as far as I’m aware, is a part of the National Democratic Party and we are going to be working together.”
Turnbull said he is a member of the NDP and the party’s Deputy Chairman, and he is supporting that team. “That is what we are here to do…I am not going to be part of the confusion.”
Walwyn rubbished claims too
Hon Walwyn, who was once again not present on the show, had issued a statement earlier on Wednesday denying Skelton-Cline’s claims.
‘I categorically deny that I ever had any such conversation with the Honourable Mitch Turnbull ever!” Walwyn wrote on his Facebook page.
He added that it was particularly troubling that these claims came from someone who is a pastor and professes to be a follower of Christ.
