Hon Turnbull ‘rejected’ Hon Walwyn's proposal to join PLM- Skelton-Cline claims
He referred to Vanterpool’s PLM as NDP5. “They all came back, led by Honourable Vanterpool, said, ‘We’re bringing the family back together’. They came back in time to have their election on April 18. After that Saturday night, by Sunday morning, the family had fallen apart again.”
Hon Walwyn has since denied the claims.
Jump ship for Deputy Premiership?
“Honourable Vanterpool is trying to pull his PLM together; who is he trying to pull together? Some of the same NDP [National Democratic Party] people. The Member of the Sixth, he’s there playing peek-a-boo; he's playing hide-and-seek,” Skelton-Cline said on his show on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
Skelton-Cline did not refer to Hons Walwyn and Turnbull by name but rather the Districts they represent. “The Member of the Sixth had a meeting with the Member of the Second, trying to convince the Member of the Second that both of them should go over together with the PLM.”
He said Turnbull was promised, “that he could become the Deputy”; however, he rejected the offer. “Which was the right thing to do.”
Hon Walwyn had previously convinced Hon Turnbull, along with Hon Stacy R. Mather (AL), to join him in The Alliance in the Opposition. The Alliance then overthrew Hon Ronnie W. Skelton as Opposition Leader, with Hon Walwyn taking the seat. Hon Mather subsequently joined the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) government and Hon Turnbull returned to the NDP.
‘Please tell the devil you haven’t seen me!’- Hon Walwyn
Meanwhile, Hon Walwyn took to social media today, October 7, 2026, to reject the claims by Skelton-Cline, saying what is particularly troubling is when such conduct comes from someone who is a pastor and professes to be a follower of Christ.
“I categorically deny that I ever had any such conversation with the Honourable Mitch Turnbull ever! I therefore put Claude Skelton-Cline and his associates to strict proof of this allegation,” Hon Walwyn stated on his Facebook page.
Further, Hon Walwyn said he is beginning to think Mr Skelton-Cline has developed some level of obsession with him.
“When I speak, he criticises me. When I remain quiet, he still finds something to criticise and, worse yet, proceeds to manufacture things that he claims I have said or done.
“At this point, I can only say: Please tell the devil you haven’t seen me,” Hon Walwyn wrote.
